I just finished my brisket sandwich. I must thank you for this review because as I type this sentence my stomach is doing a happy meat dance. Seriously. Applause from the carnivores of the ISJL.

If you take State Street north into Ridgeland, keep looking on the right for Jim's Custom Meats (or something like that- not sure of the name). They have a pretty good variety of some really nice looking seafood, though I don't know if they have clams...

I've always known the little truck as Mr. Dougan ( or Dugan), but as far as other fresh seafood options there's the New Orleans Fish House on McDowell road.

I'd recommended talking to Paul Koury, the owner of Paul Anthony's. It may take him a day or two to find a way, but he can get you pretty much any fresh seafood or meat.

It was the Mississippi Seafood Exchange. Now closed. The only other option for fresh seafood that I know of is that little truck that shows up Thursday - Saturday in front of Deville Plaza but I don't remember if it runs in the winter.

There used to be a fresh seafood place on that road where the Hinds County Juvenile Delinquent facility, the JPD shooting range, and several "gentlemen's clubs" are located. I assume it is still there. I think it's the McDowell Road exit off I-55 but going east not west.

Do you know if they carry fresh clams? Or for that matter, have you found a place yet in Jackson that DOES carry fresh seafood? (Clams specifically) - only place I know of is Fresh Market and I tend to buy them out when they have them.

I second that! Your reviews are witty and express a knowledge of food as only a true off-the-main-menu food lover could. Thanks!
