Olga’s Fine Dining
I have been meaning to try Olga’s Fine Dining (4760 Hwy 55, Jackson) for a long time. I finally made it there when I read that they now serve lunch, and that most of the things on the lunch menu are under $10.
I got the ribeye sandwich, a special. The meat was tender, juicy, and very medium rare (as I had requested). There was a fair amount of fat around the edges, but plenty of meat left after cutting off the fatty pieces. I loved the bread, which was fluffy and a bit buttery, and the condiments (including an avocado aioli) complemented everything well. The sandwich was $14, well more than any other sandwich on the menu, but I felt almost like I was eating a real steak so I didn’t mind the price.
My coworker got the roast beef sandwich, which he let me try. The meat itself was good and very moist, but we agreed that the sandwich needed some sort of kick, maybe some acidity, to cut the roast-beefiness.
The sandwiches come with a choice of salad or sauteed vegetables–we got one of each and liked them both. The vegetables I got were mostly squash and zucchini, which are not my favorite, but they were cooked with enough butter and herbs to make them quite good.
Olga’s is open 11am-2pm Tuesday through Friday for lunch, and for dinner Tuesday through Saturday starting at 5:30. They recommend reservations for dinner–the number is (601) 366-1366.
