If you’re bored, I recommend searching the internet for comments about Room Service (4107 Northview Dr., Jackson). People love it or hate it, and the haters get pretty passionate about it — but most of the hatred relates to service, not food. Apparently the owner and employees don’t really have a “customer is always right” kind of attitude. But my coworkers and I have gotten food here three times and haven’t experienced Room Service’s legendary rudeness. Even if we had, I’m pretty sure we would keep going back for the food.
Of my three meals at Room Service, my favorite by far was the Colorado Salad (chicken, pears, bacon, blue cheese, crispy noodles, egg, tomato, red onion, and there is also lettuce under all that). The ingredients (especially the juicy, sweet pears and the blue cheese) complimented each other nicely, and all seemed perfectly fresh.
This is my coworker’s Pam’s Salad, which he loved. It’s supposed to be grilled chicken, apples, walnuts, cranberries, blue cheese, bacon, egg, and red pepper, but those are definitely grapes — the menu warns that all items are subject to seasonal substitutions. The salads are quite giant, and a great deal at $8 (including tax) because they are enough for two meals. The meat, cheese, and other toppings are always abundant, making them much more filling than most salads. And the sandwiches are possibly an even better deal than the salads — $8 gets you a good-sized sandwich and a choice of side salad, chips, or soup.
Room Service is only open for lunch: you can pick up 9:30am - 1:30pm and delivery is available 10am - 1pm (tips for the driver are very, very strongly encouraged; single-order deliveries cost a dollar more). You definitely want to call ahead — they can get very busy — at (601) 362-4617.
