First I just want to say that I’ve bookmarked your site and look forward to all of your future posts.
As a Jackson native and going to college there I’ve compiled a list from my favorite burgers and I figured I’d share them with you in case you haven’t heard of them and would like to try them out.
1. Fairfield Inn in Belhaven. The lunch menu is very reasonable but the sleeper is their burger. They put a sear on that burger that locks in all the juices plus the asiago cheese is melted all the way through. I would encourage you to check it out as I think it may be the best burger in Jackson.
2. Keifers Downtown has a burger that is absolutely awesome. It comes with feta cheese instead of the norm (cheddar, pepper jack, etc…)- also the cottage fries if you haven’t had them before are awesome.
3. Ole Tavern (Formerly known as George St.) has a great burger plus an awesome “meat-n-three” for lunch. If you go, get the Ole Tavern burger that comes with the sauteed bell peppers- its really, really good.
Normally I would mention Cool Al’s and CS’s but I see you’ve already checked those out.
Oh and btw: I know that you’ve been to Beatty St. Grocery for lunch but they make a breakfast sandwich that is absolutely delicious. You should go by there sometime in the mornings- have cash ready and know what you want before you get to the counter other wise its to the back of the line, haha.
Keep up the good work.

Let me add 2 excellent seafood places you have yet reviewed:
1 Fat Tuedsday’s out Old Canton Rd almost to resevoir turn. Owner is a real S Louisiana Cajun with great fried seafood, red beans, gumbo, redfish, etc.
2. Bill’s Greek Tavern on McWillie Dr. off Northside at Batte’s Furniture Does seafood with a Greek flavor as well as other greek menu items. Great redfish, snapper, oysters, etc cooked in unique way.
Glad to have the lady from CT here. My take would be that both areas offer great seafood–just different things cooked differently–a good thing.
Keep up good work. We need a local doing these reviews with local input. Thanks

Definitely should check out Mayflower and the Elite downtown. Mayflower has great seafood and if you go to Elite check out the enchiladas. I look forward to your future posts.

Why are there no reviews on pizza? Anyway you should go to the Pizza Shack on North State Street and while you are that way stop by the Wing Stop. Its the best pizza in town. I second the Mayflower request.
